How do you say "to watch a film"?

I know for televesion one says "naar de televesie kijken" but is it also "naar een film kijken"?

I came across the verb "aanzien" recetnly.
Can you use this verb as well when you "watch" something i.e. a film?

No, you cannot. In many contexts aanzien van be used like the English "to regard someone" or "to hold someone in esteem" (amongst others). "Een film kijken" is the best way to say this in all situations.

If you want to say "we are going to the cinema tonight" or "we are going to go see a film" (as opposed to watching a film at home), the best way to say it is "vanavond gaan we naar de bios." Bios is how the word "bioscoop" (cinema) is commonly said.

Bioscoop is also often used in the full form.
"Vanavond gaan we naar de film" is also a very common way to say that your going to the cinema.

Appelstroop is right that if your going to watch a film at home, the most common way to say that is "Vanavond gaan we een film kijken" (without naar!).

Since you live in Belgium now, I feel I should point out "bios" is one of those particularly North-Dutch words.

Not quite on a level with "brugpieper", but going in that direction. In Flanders you can use "cinema", but the most normal way of saying it is simply "vanavond gaan we naar de film".
